New partnership to boost digital transformation in independent education

Jisc, the UK’s digital body for tertiary education and research, is to work with Independent Higher Education (IHE) to support institutions, teachers and learners.

Jisc has partnered with IHE, the representative body for independent higher education in the UK, to elevate digital transformation across the sector. Together they have developed a series of workshops focussed on key challenges facing the sector, including cyber-security, developing digital skills and data analytics.

IHE identified a lack of knowledge around these topics as barriers to effective digital transformation and enlisted Jisc to help.

As the UK digital, data and technology agency focused on tertiary education, research and innovation, Jisc can provide expert advice and guidance and a range of relevant services.

Registration is now open for the introductory launchpad event, where attendees can learn more about Jisc’s offer. This online webinar is taking place on Wednesday 13 September 2023.

You can register for future IHE specific Jisc events via Eventbrite.

Alex Proudfoot, CEO of IHE, said:

“We are living in a digital era when many of the challenges we face, both as a country and as a sector, can be addressed with the intelligent and innovative use of technology. From AI to cyber-security, Jisc has been the trusted technology partner for UK colleges and universities for 30 years, and our members will benefit from its extensive experience.

“I am delighted that Jisc has chosen to deepen its commitment to the independent higher education sector, working in partnership with IHE to meet the emerging technology needs of independent providers, SMEs and start-ups delivering higher education, professional training and pathways across the UK.”

Jayne Davies, managing director for customer and sector enablement at Jisc, said:

“The last three years have been a steep learning curve for education providers in all sectors as the global pandemic fast-tracked the use of technology across teaching and learning. We want the UK to be a world leader in the use of digital technology in education and research. To achieve this, we must support all our customers to develop digital strategies and we are delighted to be working with independent HE providers.

“We understand that digital transformation is as much about people as about technology. Whether it’s facilitating peer group learning, providing advice and guidance, sharing effective practice or networking in our wide-ranging communities and events, we’re here to facilitate and support IT leaders and teaching and learning staff to enhance the student experience.”
