Jisc designated as producer of official statistics
Jisc has been added to the list of non-UK government bodies whose published statistics are specified as ‘official statistics’ under the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007.
The designation comes into force on Thursday 10 August 2023 under The Official Statistics Order 2023 statutory instrument.
Following the October 2022 merger with the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), Jisc is now responsible for producing official statistics about higher education in the UK.
As part of Jisc, HESA collects, assures and publishes information about students, graduates, staff, finance, knowledge exchange and estates in the higher education sector.
Official statistics about UK higher education will continue to be published on the HESA website alongside key information about the official statistics produced by HESA as part of Jisc.
