Role

I work with our strategic partners to develop strategies for supporting the UK’s national and global research in line with Jisc's vision. I support the implementation of that strategy across the organisation. I also oversee work developing the digital infrastructure services needed to support and enhance aspects of the research lifecycle - from discovery of information and data, to data analysis and manipulation, as well as collaboration and research impact and dissemination.

Background

Prior to working for Jisc, I was the technical manager at the Oxford University e-Science Centre, where I advised scientific research projects based on WebService and GridService architectures. I have also worked for the Oxford University library services, implementing numerous library and digital library technologies, including projects on preservation of digital material, and was a visiting research fellow at Kings College London for a project working on computational musicology.

I am currently the chair of the executive board and and council for the European Grid Infrastructure - an international EU-funded collaboration that creates and delivers open solutions for science and research infrastructures. I am also a member of the UK Cabinet Office open standards board, and on the advisory boards for the Software Sustainability Institute and the EPSRC funded Transforming Musicology project.
